Shipments of automotive boards, any-layer HDI boards and rigid-flexible PCB boards will be growth drivers for Unitech Printed Circuit Board in 2014, according to the company.

Unitech will set aside a capex budget of over NT$1.5 billion (US$49.53 million) for capacity ramps in 2014, said company president Hsu Cheng-hung.

Demand for PCB products is expected to pick up significantly in the second half of 2014 as mobile device vendors are to launch more new models in the latter half of the year, Hsu commented.

Unitech posted revenues of NT$13.27 billion, increasing 12.4% from a year earlier. Of total sales, shipments of PCBs for smartphone, tablet and wearable device applications accounted for 65%, automotive boards 23%, solar energy 2% and the remaining 10% for other industries
